Exuding ambience and luxury, the resort sits on the bank of the Ayeyarwaddy River, just outside the walls of ancient Bagan. The Bagan Thiripyitsaya Sanctuary Resort, a former government hotel, is now part of the Japanese Sakura group, and was renovated in 2002 and again in summer 2008. It has fantastic river views from its' grounds, four restaurants and a traditional Myanmar outdoor massage spa. Many of its' spacious private villas are decorated with local teak carvings and some rooms have stylish outdoor bath tubs. The resort has the largest swimming pool in Bagan and friendly attentive staff.

  • All rates include 10% service charge and 10% Government tax, and inclusive of American Breakfast.

Bagan Thiripyitsaya Sanctuary Resort has a total of 76 guest rooms, from superior rooms to lavish suites. Each one is decorated in Myanmar style, with an abundance of wood and local materials. All conceivable comforts are provided for guests’ ease and convenience, from personal safes, mini-bars, individual airconditioning controls, satellite television channels to kimonos and hair dryers. All 8 suites open to the Irrawaddy River, each with a wide verandah from which to view dramatic sunsets.

Deluxe River View Rooms boast of huge picture windows, which look out to the Irrawaddy River. Each has a private verandah where lounging chairs are placed for relaxation. Bathrooms are provided with bath tubs.

Deluxe Garden View Rooms look out to the landscaped gardens. Each has a spacious verandah and a bath tub installed in the bathroom.

Superior rooms are surrounded by greenery, and each has its own verandah. One always feels just a few steps away from nature. Bathrooms are provided with standing showers
